Selected for Canada's Defence Drone Initiative Marketplace across all five streams

Draganfly announced it has been selected as a Qualified Supplier under the Government of Canada’s Defence Drone Initiative (DDI) Marketplace. This selection, effective August 28, 2026, includes qualification across all five of the DDI Marketplace's capability streams.

This acceptance positions Draganfly as a qualified supplier within the DDI Marketplace, opening a pathway for potential contract opportunities to support the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Coast Guard. These opportunities would involve uncrewed and autonomous systems and related capabilities. The five streams Draganfly qualified for are UxS and Counter-UxS Systems; C2, Communications, Data, EW and Cyber Systems; Integration, Interoperability and Engineering Services; Test, Evaluation and Training; and Innovation and Experimentation.

The DDI, launched in July 2026, aims to speed up the development, testing, adaptation, and production of Canadian uncrewed and autonomous systems, while also strengthening the domestic defence industry. Canada plans to invest approximately $180 billion in direct defence procurement over the next decade. Uncrewed and autonomous systems have been identified as one of ten sovereign capability priorities.

Additionally, the government's strategy includes a $105 million investment over three years for a national Drone Innovation Hub. This hub is intended to advance the research, development, and commercialization of Canadian drone and counter-drone technologies. Draganfly CEO Cameron Chell stated that the DDI creates a practical pathway for industry and government collaboration to evaluate, adapt, and deploy capabilities against operational requirements.
